The PHPA Safety Committee has issued a new safety directive concerning equipment airworthiness. Effective immediately, all active pilots flying at PHPA-surveyed sites must present verified inspection seals on their gliders and harnesses.
Recent site audits indicated a percentage of gliders operating with outdated porosity parameters and worn reserve deployment loops. To protect pilots and preserve the safety track record of the sport, the governing council has formalized the annual inspection guidelines under Section 42 compliance rules.
Mandatory Equipment Check Parameters
Before launching from any approved ridge in Pakistan, your gear must satisfy the following checks:
- Canopy Porosity Audit: Annual check using an official JDC or Porosimeter. Wings showing fabric porosity times under 10 seconds are permanently grounded.
- Line Strength Testing: Visual check for core damage or sheath tear. Suspicious lines must be replaced using original manufacturer specifications.
- Reserve Parachute Repacks: Emergency reserves must be repacked and certified every six months by a PHPA-approved repack specialist. Verification tags must be attached to the harness.
- Carabiners & Speed Bars: Check for stress fractures in aluminum carabiners. Ensure speed bar release strings are clear of lines.
Inspection services can be scheduled at our Rawalpindi safety lab or during weekend site camps conducted by the technical committee.
